Thirteen Hours

“Beep! Beep! Beep!” my alarm shouts out. I had been rudely awaken at 6 o’ clock in the morning and realize that had been sleeping for thirteen hours! I start panicking. “I haven’t done my english homework, my math homework, I forgot to call my friend last night, am I going to have time to get ready for school? Oh my what do I do?” I think to myself. I now have to make decision between doing my English or math homework, getting ready for school or arriving to on time, or even eating or watching television. I know my time is limited and have to be proactive so I make my decision- I would rather do my English homework (since math takes to long anyways), I rather arrive to school on time (since I’m only at school for like four hours), and I would preferably eat than watch television (since it is the most important meal of the day). It is now 7:07 a.m. and I had checked off number one on my list. Time may be limited at time but if you really set your mind to it you can get anything done no matter the circumstances.

Hall Of Fame Book.

In Mr. W’s class there is a binder called the hall of fame book which contains ‘A’ plus work from students that attend or attended Monterey Continuation School. I believe in order to turn in divine work you have to be motivated, think positive, believe that you can turn in ‘A’ plus work, feel accomplished and satisfied with the work you turn in, and just put one-hundred percent effort in to your assignments. If you do this then your work will be recognized and suddenly this might become an important aspect in your life. You’ve suddenly developed a an extremely good habit that will come accessible for you and might have people favor you over others. For example- Your work is acknowledge in a class room, then it’s acknowledge in collage, and then u suddenly have all these great job opportunities because they’ve acknowledge the work you have done. Nobody wants a slothful person attending their school or even working for them. And who knows, once somebody see’s the work and the work you have done, they might want to do the same. Now you have become an positive/ inspiring to someone and it will slowly become a domino effect- succession of similar events. “Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Second Chances

Have you ever made a mistake and wish you had a second chance? If you have, I know exactly how you feel. I was a high school student at Marc and Eva Stern M.A.S.S. however I had gotten the boot after missing school for two months straight. I felt as if i had made the most stupid mistake of my life! I was about to become a high school drop out intill I started looking into other high schools. The first school that came to my intrest was Monterey Continuation school because it was two blocks away from my house, small, and I would be able to catch up on my credits faster. I had an interview with their principal Dr. Franklin. The interview was kind of rocky and he seemed as if were not intrested of letting me attend his school intill he said, “Give me one, good, final reason on why I should let you into my school.” I replied, “I know I messed up in the past but I’ve seen the erros of my ways. I came to realize that I need to go to school so that I can go to collage to create a better future for myself. My friends or peopleI know now are most likely not to be in my future. There not going to be paying my bills, providing for me, or anything. There going to go on with their lifes and I’m just going to be left behind by myself. I just wished I would have realized that sooner. If you let me into your school this would be my chance to change all that.” He replied, “That’s the most mature answer I’ve ever heard at this school.” I’ve been attending M.H.S for about three weeks now, and I am proud to say I am a Monterey student. I had finally gotten my second chance.
